The Spanish Bawd: Being the Tragi-Comedy of Calisto and Melibea is a novel by Fernando de Rojas, published by The Folio Society in 1973. It is also known as La Celestina, and it is considered one of the first novels in Spanish literature. It tells the story of a young nobleman, Calisto, who falls in love with a beautiful lady, Melibea, and hires a cunning old woman, Celestina, to help him win her over. The novel is a mixture of comedy and tragedy, and it explores the themes of love, lust, greed, and deception. The novel has 205 pages and is illustrated by Dodie Masterman.
