This book is a historical novel by Richard G. Hubler, a journalist and author. The book tells the story of Akiba ben Joseph, a Jewish sage and scholar who lived in the first and second centuries CE. Akiba was a leader of the Jewish resistance against the Roman Empire and a martyr for his faith. The book also portrays his relationship with Sextus Rufus Teneius, a Roman soldier and politician who became his friend and adversary. The book was published by Crown Publishers in 1966 and has 375 pages.
