This book by Violet Needham is a historical adventure novel set in the fictional country of Monte Lucio in the Middle Ages. It tells the story of Philip, the Count of Monte Lucio, and his twin brother Hugo, who are involved in a plot to overthrow them and replace Philip with Hugo. The book is full of intrigue, romance, and action, and features a cast of memorable characters, such as Richard de Chateaufort, Roger of Windri, and Boniface the jester. The book contains 255 pages and black and white illustrations by Joyce Bruce. It is the second book in the Monte Lucio series, following The Black Riders.
