The Sioux is a 1965 novel by Irene Handl, a British actress and comedian. It is a humorous and satirical portrayal of the Benoir family, a wealthy and eccentric French clan who live in New Orleans. The novel focuses on Marguerite Benoir, a young widow who has married three times and is now looking for a fourth husband. She becomes fascinated by the Sioux Indians, who are visiting the city for a festival, and decides to adopt their culture and lifestyle. The novel is full of absurd situations and witty dialogue, as well as some social commentary on racism and classism. The book has 344 pages and was published by Longmans in London as the first UK edition. Additional remarks: Signed by the author with a brief description. Clipped DJ.
