Thucydides is a book by John H. Finley Jr. that is based on his PhD dissertation at Harvard University. It is a critical and historical analysis of the life and work of the ancient Greek historian, Thucydides, who wrote the History of the Peloponnesian War, a detailed account of the conflict between Athens and Sparta in the fifth century BC. The book examines the political and intellectual background of Thucydides, his plan and methods of writing history, his style and thought, and his influence and legacy. The book was published by Harvard University Press in 1942 and reprinted by Ann Arbor Paperbacks in 1963. It has 344 pages. Additional remarks, slight damage to title page.
