Faraway Hill is a novel by H.A. Lindsay, published in 1963 by Rigby. In Faraway Hill the reader follows the fortunes of an Australian couple from a construction camp on the River Murray to a city slum, then to an arduous life of commercial bee-keeping. At last they are able to buy a farm, one reduced by mismanagement to such a run-down condition that it carries only weeds and rabbits, and embark on the long struggle to restore it to its former fertility.A number of interesting characters lend colour to the scene-among them being itinerant bush-workers, squatters, a man who brings about a minor revolution in agriculture through the introduction of Negeb clover, and an unusual woman who wins back what her happy-go-lucky brothers have lost.As with H. A. Lindsay’s other novels, the background -covering the period from the Depression to the Second World War- is accurately and convincingly drawn, and the author again proves his ability to tell a gripping story.First Edition. Condition: Good. Dust jacket: Good with general shelf wear. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting.
